Well, we have a sad announcement regarding our new and beloved fish, Mr.
Bubbles. I checked on him this weekend because I was concerned about
our new tank. Sure enough, the filter proved to be too strong for him
and he passed on. We have a new fishy friend
joining us today and we will pick his name soon. I will be purchasing a
new habitat for our new friend after school today. (Who knew fish
could be so high maintenance!) The class took it pretty well this
morning, but I am sure it will be a topic of conversation
around the dinner table tonight.
This week we will be learning the following:
Math: fractions (comparing, ordering on a number line)
History: events leading up to the Civil War; Harriet Tubman
Poem: Harriet Tubman
Science: Life Cycles (thanks to Mr. Bubbles we will visit this earlier than planned); Insects
Literature: Tall Tales
Grammar: Sentence Parsing, Formal vs. Informal language; using synonyms in writing
