Friday Folders:  I apologize for the lack of heads up on this!  Sending work home in the red folders on Friday was just not working well- it became mixed in with homework, and began to stack up in the folder, so we are instituting a Friday Folder (black).  Please take the contents of the folder out to review the graded work, and sign and return on Monday (or in this case, Tuesday).  This will help keep everything separate and tidy. 
If you have a "correct and return" paper, please take some time to review and correct that paper with your child.  If it is a daily work grade, it will be regraded, and averaged with the original grade, and the new grade will be updated in the grade book.  Test grades will only be changed by the teacher after individualized reteach and reassessment takes place. 

Place Value Discs-We are beginning to rename ones and tens in Math (we called it regrouping when we were in school!).  It is a very new and somewhat hard concept for many.  I have a sign out sheet for place value discs to use for the homework to help with the visual concept of renaming.  Have your students draw a Hundreds-Tens-Ones chart (place value chart) on a piece of paper and physically create the numbers with the discs.  Then have them put the discs together and "rename" or "regroup" when needed.
