Week 6!

Good evening,

I hope your family has enjoyed a weekend of relaxation and recharge. Here are a few dates I want to take the time to highlight:

This Thursday, September 17th is Singapore Math Night!
The why before how, understanding Singapore Math

Thursday, September 17^th 6:30 - 7:30pm

If you would like to understand more about your student's Singapore Math curriculum and how you can support and help build their mathematical proficiency our evening program focusing on Singapore Math is the perfect opportunity. Archway Lincoln will be hosting an informational evening program for parents interested in learning about the unique features of Singapore Math. This is an adult only program.

• Rocket Math
• Making 10
• Challenging word problems
• Math manipulatives
• Concepts before computation

This Friday, September 18th is early release at 12:30:

The Lincoln Campus will be dismissing students at 12:30 PM on Friday, September 18th. All students will have to be OFF campus by 1pm as the entire campus will be closed. 

If you are unable to pick up your child at 12:30 please make arrangements.

Athenaeum will be here for the after school program, they do offer a 5 day punch card. Please consider purchasing one, it is great for those times you are unable to pick your child up on time due to traffic, or meetings. Athenaeum is a Great Hearts operated after school program and run until 6pm.

 Shoelaces

One of our parent found an AMAZING invention that solves the shoe tying problem- take a minute to check it out if your child is struggling with tying his/her shoes.  So cool, thank you for your find Mrs. C!

What we will be learning this week:

Math- Adding more than 2 numbers; subtraction with renaming :) 

Reading- Finishing Boxcar Children!  

Grammar:  Review the types of verbs: action, state of being, linking

Science:  Our caterpillars and chicks are working on their life cycles-we will keep you posted!

History:  We begin a new Unit:  India

Our first Coffee Talk for BoxCar Children!  I will send a separate email this week, but we will have our coffee talk time from 1:45-2:45 on the 22nd.
