This weekend your student has been assigned to listen to the Star Spangled Banner and pay attention to the lyrics and how they reflect the The War of 1812. Here is the song and lyrics to enjoy and ponder. Want to learn more? Research:
- Francis Scott Key
- Fort McHenry
-Battle of Baltimore
- War of 1812
These are all things we will be discussing in depth next week.
Money!
Please take a few minutes this weekend and have your student practice counting and making change. If you have any ads from the newpaper or mailbox this weekend that show varying amounts of $ for items, could you send them to school with your child? We will be making change, counting coins, and adding up money this week. Seeing the real price for items always makes it more fun! (In third grade they can practice buying cars, but this year we are keeping it under $100!)
Field Trip
Tuesday, March 8th: Phoenix Science Center
Please go online to pay your Field Trip fee if you have not done so already. This serves as your child's permission slip. We will be taking buses and return by 2:30. Please provide a sack lunch for your child on this day! (Please do not order a hot lunch).
We will need 6 classroom chaperones. Each volunteer will have 5 students they will be responsible for during the Field Trip. Please do not volunteer if you do not have your fingerprint clearance! Please email me if you would like to serve. I will take the first 6 with proper clearance :)
