It is hard to believe we are in November this week! We have a busy week of learning ahead:
History:
We will have an assessment over Ancient China on Wednesday. We will
spend about a week and a half learning about Japan and then jump full
speed ahead into Ancient Greece. A review sheet for China will go home
on Tuesday.
Science: Magnetism quiz will be on Thursday
(possibly Friday depending on how ready our class is for the quiz). We
will then begin studying about Simple Machines. Each January when your
child returns from break we have a presentation week over a large unit
of study. Our Project Week for second grade is going to be over Simple
Machines. More information will be coming in the weeks to come, and we
will be sure to give you plenty of time to pace your child's project so
your break is not dictated by the project!
Literature: Cricket in Times Square
Haiku- Japanese Poetry
Math: Multiplication/Division
Grammar: Please spend some time reviewing the following with your child:
1. What are the 5 parts every sentence must have?
2. Adverbs answer the questions: How? When? Where?
3. Adjectives answer the questions: How Many? Which ones? What kind?
I
hope you have a wonderful week! Please remember healthy snacks are
always welcome, and if your child wants to bring his/her Halloween stash
to school, a gentle reminder that candy is not for school is greatly
appreciated! :)
Sincerely,
Erin Stecker
